Remembering Pak

The aroma of the curve cut tobacco, war time stories, tokohoon plasters and crossword puzzles always remind me of Pak.  A kind, generous man until he died.  Today I remember Pak and I remember the song Sri Mersing that he wanted us to buy from the record shop down the road, but we never did.

Dear Kak Teh, What a lovely photo and that jaunty hat!! My dad loved the ghazal and he had very little chance to listen to it on the radio because of his teenage children’s choice of music. So, when my sister got married, he arranged young people’s music for the dinner and a Ghazal group from Batu Pahat for the day-music. I do love Seri Mersing and Tudung Periuk. Remember those happy days.

Thanks Ms Hamid. Yes, my Pak loved Tudung Periuk too. You know there was a ghazal programme which he never missed and once he got too carried away, and squashed some fruits he had in his pockets - dok tepuk-tepuk according to rythm. That was so funny. Al Fatehah to both our Paks.
